About Me

Who am I?
I’m a thirty-something, recently engaged, home-owner whose greatest loves (aside from my family and fiancé) are animals (mainly dogs and horses), travel, DIY projects and making my house a home.

Why am I blogging?
I volunteer with the Pomeranian and Small Breed Rescue, a Registered Canadian Charity based out of southern Ontario. The group is run completely by volunteers and is dedicated to rehoming small dogs that are abandoned, surrendered by owners or rescued from puppy mills and shelters where they may be at risk of being put to sleep. I foster dogs for PSBR until they find forever homes and want to share my experiences as I learn more about dogs and the joys that they bring.

I also have a Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier, named Salty. We rescued her from a shelter that couldn’t keep her because she was too scared to do well in that environment. She was our foster until my fiancé realized he couldn’t let her go, and now she’s our baby forever. She’s a little princess with a big personality and I am sure I’ll have a few stories to share about the antics she gets up to.

My fiancé and I bought our suburban 2,600 sq. ft. home in 2013. The back-split layout is great but it lacked a sense of personality and homeliness. So, we have been working on various “homeification” projects, albeit on a very limited budget as we’re also planning our wedding and are trying to pay off debt. I enjoy sharing what I’m up to with friends and if I can help inspire and share know-how with a few more people along the way, then why not?

What I blog about?
Dogs: the resilience of rescue dogs; the immense emotional rewards that come from helping dogs in need; the plight of rescues and the need for more foster homes; helping people understand that not all rescue dogs have issues, and the ones that do are the most rewarding, especially when you’re able to help them overcome them.

My Home: the little touches that make it our home; custom-furniture and other pieces I build; DIY gifts and other projects, like transforming my bare backyard into an oasis; adventures in cooking and baking; and possibly some wedding planning stories as I go through the process of planning my dream wedding.

My other loves:
- Horses and hunter jumper, just-for-fun riding at Waterstone Estate and Farms.
- Travel to new and exciting places. I have lived in the Middle East, Australia, Mexico and my home, Canada. I’ve traveled to over 30 countries and would like to add at least one new country per year to the list.

Let’s Chat!
I want to create content that is useful, fun to read and true to who I am. If you have any comments about what I am sharing, or have any ideas for things you’d like me to try and then blog about please let me know. I’d love to hear from you!
